U.S. Air Force Gen. Johnny Lamontagne, Air Mobility Command commander, prepares for take off in the 100th KC-46A Pegasus aircraft delivered to the U.S. Air Force, Dec. 2, 2025, at Paine Field, Washington. Lt. Gen. John Healy, chief of the Air Force Reserve and the commander of Air Force Reserve Command, flew the 99th KC-46A in formation alongside Lamontagne. The KC-46A Pegasus is an aerial refueling aircraft capable of performing single and multi-point simultaneous aerial refueling. NORAD Ready to Track Santa's Flight for 70th Anniversary Year
The North American Aerospace Defense Command is ready to track Santa on Dec. 24 for the program’s 70th year. NORAD monitors and defends North American airspace 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. On Dec. 24, NORAD has one additional mission: tracking Santa Claus as he makes his way across the globe delivering presents to children. The NORAD Tracks Santa website (www.noradsanta.org) launched on Dec. 1.

North American Aerospace Defense Command operates in Arctic
A North American Aerospace Defense Command F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft from the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing sit on the tarmac at Pituffik Space Force Base, Greenland, Oct. 9, 2025. Operating in the Arctic provides the flexibility and adaptability needed to overcome logistical hurdles in a dynamic and unforgiving environment. The North American Aerospace Defense Command is busy tracking Santa on December 24, 2024 for the program’s 69th year in the NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center located on Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. NORAD is a U.S. and Canada bi-national command charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America. On Dec. 24, NORAD has the special mission of tracking Santa, using the same satellites, radar, and fighter jets it uses twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, to track anything that flies in or around the North American continent.
