About the Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) Branch

The RSO AdvM Branch focuses on the following technologies:

Rapid & Austere Maintenance (Expeditionary Combat Team):  Reduce the warfighting logistics footprint and enhance Airmen mission effectiveness in expeditionary environments

Additive Manufacturing:  Evaluate traditional manufacturing methods and exploit cutting edge technologies to close supply chain gaps and improve Aircraft readiness

Repair through Additive Manufacturing (RAM):  Understand limitations in current repair procedures and provide solutions to extend capabilities for repair of aircraft components

Automation & Robotics (AR):  Eliminate human tasks that are repetitive, labor-intensive, or even hazardous to free up warfighters, increase safety, and streamline throughput

Advanced Manufacturing Program Office

The Department of the Air Force established the Advanced Manufacturing Program Office (AMPO) within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO) to scale organic capability and serve as the Air Force’s focal point for the application of Advanced Manufacturing (AdvM) in matters related to acquisition and sustainment.

The AMPO mission is to drive continuous integration of AdvM technologies through agile evaluation and scaling processes, integrating the best solutions for the Department of Defense and industry.
