North American Aerospace Defense Command operates in Arctic
A North American Aerospace Defense Command F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft from the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing sit on the tarmac at Pituffik Space Force Base, Greenland, Oct. 9, 2025. Operating in the Arctic provides the flexibility and adaptability needed to overcome logistical hurdles in a dynamic and unforgiving environment. Greenland as part of the Kingdom of Denmark has long played an important role in the defense of North America, which strengthens NORAD's ability to protect the continent from today’s threats and emerging challenges from all approaches. Space, C3BM integration powers DAF BATTLE NETWORK
Kris Acosta is the civilian deputy to the senior advisor for the assistant secretary for Space. Acosta is also the space deputy for Architecture and Systems Engineering supporting C3BM. NORAD is a U.S. and Canada bi-national command charged with the missions of aerospace warning, aerospace control and maritime warning for North America. On Dec. 24, NORAD has the special mission of tracking Santa, using the same satellites, radar, and fighter jets it uses twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, to track anything that flies in or around the North American continent. Volunteers pose after receiving the Commander's Public Service Award
Volunteers pose after receiving the Commander's Public Service Award for their work in responding to a mid-air collision of two USAF C-141 cargo planes. The November 30, 1992 crash killed all 13 on the planes. The volunteers arrived first at the site in remote Harlem, Montana and stayed for weeks, assisting the Air Force by securing the scene and providing information. Courtesy.
