Dr. Bryan Tipton

Dr. Bryan Tipton is the Chief of Architecture and Engineering at the Department of the Air Force Integrating Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management (DAF PEO C3BM), Assistance Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, Massachusetts.  

Dr. Tipton is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of the DAF BATTLE NETWORK. The DAF BATTLE NETWORK is the integrated system-of-systems connecting sensor, effector, and logistics systems providing better situational awareness, faster operational decisions, and decisive direction to the force. The DAF BATTLE NETWORK provides the resilient decision advantage necessary for USAF, US Space Force, Joint and Coalition forces to defeat the pacing challenge. 

Dr. Tipton leads the C3BM Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE) Division responsible for the design and integration of the DAF BATTLE NETWORK by developing and managing the operationally driven system of systems architecture. He is also responsible for overseeing the engineering of all acquisition programs inside PEO C3BM. 

Prior to joining DAF PEO C3BM, Dr. Tipton served as the Chief Architect at the DAF’s Rapid Capabilities Office (DAF RCO) from 2017 - 2022. As the Chief Architect, he led efforts to develop C2 systems for space, and he served as the technical lead for the Advance Battle Management System. 

Before that role, Dr. Tipton worked for 15 years at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lincoln Laboratory in the areas of system analysis, algorithm development, missile defense, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) and Air Force tactical systems.  

Dr. Tipton holds a doctorate in physics from MIT.
