BRIGADIER GENERAL ROBERT LYONS III

Brig. Gen Robert Lyons III serves as the Program Executive Officer for Weapons and Director of the Armament Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. General Lyons is responsible for the planning and execution of all life cycle activities for air-delivered munitions, including the Advance Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile, Long Range Anti-Ship Missile, Joint Direct Attack Munition, Air Dominance Advanced Programs, Hypersonic Weapons, Massive Ordinance Penetrator, and Small Diameter Bomb. The portfolio includes ammunition, combat training systems, threat emitters for test and training purposes, and aerial targets. The Armament Directorate’s $93 billion portfolio delivers weapons capabilities to the US services, allies, and partners. General Lyons was commissioned as a distinguished graduate from University of Cincinnati’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program.

During his career, General Lyons served in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Office of the Secretary of Defense Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics, Air Force Special Operations Command, the Department of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, and system program offices that field space, aircraft, and other capabilities.

Prior to serving as the Program Executive Officer for Weapons and Director of the Armament Directorate, General Lyons served as the F-35 Air Vehicle Program Manager in the F-35 Joint Program Office, responsible for F-35 development, production, post-production modifications, and operations and sustainment of the F-35 Air Vehicle.
