U.S. service members from the Ceremonial Honor Guard stand ready to guard the casket of Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Jan. 5, 2025. After lying in repose, Carter will be taken to Washington, where members of Congress will pay their respects in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.
