Building the ‘Sandcastle’: 76 CMXG starts sand casting aluminum parts
A model sandcastle sits on a table in front of an ExOne S-Print sand 3D printer at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, April 13, 2023. Affectionately known as the ‘Sandcastle,’ the 76th Commodity Maintenance Group’s new foundry can sand cast aluminum parts up to 120 pounds, providing another avenue for sourcing aircraft parts not easily obtained through traditional contracting methods.
