The cross, American flag, and Canadian flag represent and honor the Canadian and U.S. crew members who lost their lives during the Yukla 27 crash that occurred Sept. 22, 1995 during a memorial ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 22, 2021. A U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry crashed 42 seconds after going airborne, killing all 24 of its Canadian and U.S. crew members.
