Tinker 75th Anniversary
The space shuttle “Columbia” lands at Tinker AFB April 27, 1981, for an overnight stopover following its first orbital mission and touchdown in the California desert. More than 200,000 sightseers greet the shuttle, which rides securely on the back of a Boeing 747.
