The Air Force’s new financial incident management application, designed to give users online virtual support, cleared its last test hurdle here.

The 96th Comptroller Squadron was one of six organizations selected to test the Comptroller Services Portal.  The testing began in May.  It is now fully operational and expected to be used at all installations by the end of the fiscal year.

The CSP allows eligible patrons to submit requests and make inquiries related to military pay, civilian pay and travel pay.

The portal has been particularly beneficial to 96th CPTS customers in the current COVID-19 climate.

“Many of our personnel are navigating through isolation, quarantine, and restrictions of movement.  The portal allows them to handle their pay issues from home,” said Senior Master Sgt. Dustin Hindel, 96th CPTS superintendent. “It’s a great financial services tool.”

The secure portal protects personally identifiable information.  It does not require virtual private network access, but does require a common access card reader when using a personal computer.

Customers are prompted to review their user profile and make any necessary updates.  Then, they can submit, review and track their requests any time, from anywhere.

Email notifications are sent any time changes are made.  Customers can ask questions, provide information as needed, or upload documents to get their inquiry resolved.

Hindel, a CSP project lead, said the new application offers Eglin Airmen and civilians transparency.

“They can now follow their inquiry from start to finish and see the status 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” he said.  “They no longer have to send an email and hope for a timely response.”

He said approximately 540 customer inquiries were submitted through the portal, with an average resolution time of approximately two days.

The portal also offers links to finance-related websites, including the Air Force Benefits website, Citibank Government Travel Card and the Defense Finance Accounting Service.

The CSP will eventually allow access to regulations, announcements, related articles, calendars and links to pertinent financial management areas.
