HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management Center of Excellence has canceled its in-person 2020 CNS/ATM Working Group.

Originally set to take place June 8-11 in Dayton, Ohio, the annual event is designed to ensure military aircraft platforms meet on-board avionics standards driven by the International Civil Aviation Organization, Federal Aviation Administration and other civil aviation authorities.

“While we didn’t want to postpone or cancel, everyone’s safety comes first,” said Brett Johnson, CNS/ATM CoE branch chief. “We cannot overstate the value of the face-to-face interaction with our key stakeholders and mission partners. This is our office’s premier event where we can share expertise.”

To keep the information exchange flowing, the CNS/ATM CoE will conduct a portion of the Working Group in a virtual format during the original June timeframe. These invitation-only sessions will include technical discussions with aircraft program offices.

“I encourage anyone who is interested in receiving additional information to reach out to our office, and we will keep you updated,” Johnson said. “Even though we may not be able to meet in person, our team is available to assist our aircraft programs with CNS/ATM concerns or questions.”
