FROM BRIG. GEN. SCOTT CAIN, 96TH TEST WING COMMANDER:

On Sept. 3, the 96th Test Wing and many of our Team Eglin partners will participate in the Air Force’s resilience tactical pause. We will take this day to listen, connect, share feedback, encourage seeking help, and engage with each other about one of the Air Force’s most significant challenges: Suicide.

The purpose of the resilience tactical pause is for Airmen to connect with each other through open, honest and candid communications. With this in mind, we have educated facilitators in your organizations to help guide these important conversations.

Small group discussions are currently in progress and will continue through Sept. 15. We need leaders to personalize the small group discussions. Discuss being good Wingmen, engaging in appropriate self-care and seeking help early through our abundant resources. We need to combat the stigma associated with seeking help.

Also Sept. 3, we will have Bernie McGrenahan live at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville showcasing “Comedy is the Cure” for two live performances from 10 a.m. - noon and 1- 3 p.m.  It is our intent to unite Airmen through this venue.

Lastly, every Airman’s voice needs to be heard in an effort to evolve our approach to resilience. This daylong event is not training, but an opportunity to create an environment of connectedness.

Chief Auger and I look forward to hearing from all of you. Thank you for everything you do.
