Understanding current access procedures before arriving at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base can help make entering the installation smoother for visitors, contractors and personnel.

With the Trusted Traveler Program currently suspended, individuals with DoD credentials are no longer able to escort or “vouch for” passengers over the age of 17 who do not have approved identification. While the program is suspended, every occupant in a vehicle must present one of the following forms of identification when entering the installation:

  • Common Access Cards
  • Uniformed Services ID cards
  • Defense Biometric Identification System credentials
  • Federal Personal Identity Verification cards
  • Approved visitor passes
  • Registered REAL-ID compliant driver’s licenses or identification cards on file with Pass & Registration

Visitors needing a pass are encouraged to stop at Pass and Registration before attempting to enter the installation. Those with a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card will be used during the visitor pass process, while individuals without one will need to provide two valid forms of identification.

Accepted documentation may include:

  • A passport
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate
  • Social Security card
  • Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC)
  • Other federally accepted identification documents

Visitors who cannot provide required identification documents may be denied access to the installation.

Veterans using a Veteran Health Identification Card for installation access must be service connected, a Purple Heart recipient, former prisoner of war or Medal of Honor recipient. VHIC holders must also register with Pass and Registration before base access is granted.

To help reduce delays at the gate, drivers and passengers are encouraged to have identification cards or passes ready to present before arrival.

The Pass and Registration Office is located at 4185 Logistics Ave., Bldg. 286, Area A. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is closed on AFMC pass days and federal holidays. After-hours visitor passes are available at Gate 12A, Area A and Gate 22B, Area B. The same screening process applies outside normal business hours.
