HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Two logisticians here received awards during the 12th annual Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Logistics Functional Awards ceremony March 26.
The ceremony was livestreamed from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, where teams and individuals were nominated for flying and non-flying awards for their efforts advancing Air Force lethality.
“To all our nominees, it is your creativity, innovative thinking and initiative that represent the best within the AFLCMC,” said Col. James Wall, AFLCMC acting director of Logistics and Logistics Services. “The achievements of our logisticians continue to reach new levels of success. We appreciate your commitment and want each of you to know that your hard work is not unnoticed.”
An increase in award nominations indicates the center’s sphere of influence is expanding, Wall noted. Winners were selected from two directorates represented at Hanscom AFB.
Gianna Petrella, from Cyber and Networks Directorate, received the Logistics Manager in Acquisition and Business System II Delegated and A/BCAT III (non-flying) Award in the Civilian Tier I category.
“Petrella streamlined the risk register in deploying the Department of the Air Force information technology ticket configuration system, supporting more than 600,000 users and successfully sunsetted the legacy system,” said Rebecca Gerling during the ceremony. “Even more impressive, she was the lead action officer of the supply chain risk management team that analyzed the $6.5 billion information technology infrastructure, overcoming cybersecurity risks and implementing numerous security measures.”
Capt. Wongsai Heur, from Electronics Systems Directorate, received the Logistics Manager in A/BCAT II Delegated and A/BCAT III (non-flying) Award in the company grade officer category.
“Heur spearheaded the enhancements to security systems for three combatant commands involving 800 devices while simultaneously training personnel on those systems,” said Rayme Rogers during the ceremony. “Additionally, he managed more than $152 million in Defense Logistics Agency fuel contracts that enabled U.S. Southern Command’s Joint Task Force Bravo to achieve 1,900 flying hours across Central America, the Caribbean and the Andean Mountain Range.”
A total of 222 nominations were received in 49 categories across AFLCMC.
