Meet the new AFLCMC First Sergeant Published Feb. 10, 2025 By SMSgt Todd Wireman, First Sergeant, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center I’m Todd “Jake” Wireman, and I recently had the honor of stepping into the role of First Sergeant for the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) this December. With over 17 years of service in the Air Force, I’m excited to bring my experience, passion for leadership, and dedication to the enlisted force to this new position. I grew up in Cridersville, a small farm town in Ohio. In May 2007, I made the life-changing decision to enlist in the Air Force. At that time, I wasn’t just looking for a career—I was seeking to create a solid foundation and a stable future for my growing family. Looking back, that decision has not only shaped my life but has also allowed me to serve alongside some incredible Airmen. Throughout the past 18 years, my journey wouldn’t have been possible without the love and unwavering support of my spouse. Together, we’ve built a life centered around family, raising three amazing children: a 17-year-old daughter and two sons, aged 15 and 10. Balancing my duties as a husband, father, and Airman has had its challenges, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. When I think about what drives my commitment to this role, I give credit to two important figures in my life - my grandfathers. One taught me the power of kindness, compassion, and treating others with respect. The other instilled in me the value of hard work and perseverance. These lessons have become the foundation of who I am as a person and as a First Sergeant. In my eyes, First Sergeants play a vital role in every organization. Our responsibilities go far beyond enforcing standards—we’re here to connect with our people, provide guidance, link them to resources, and offer a listening ear when they need it most. I consider myself lucky to be part of this career field. Being a "Shirt" is more than a job - it’s a calling that I truly love. As I settle into my role here at AFLCMC, my focus is on supporting our big “A” Airman force and fostering an environment where Airmen can thrive. I want to be the type of leader who empowers others and helps them navigate challenges. There’s nothing more fulfilling than watching Airmen achieve their goals and knowing I played a small part in that success. I’m also deeply aware of the broader mission we have within the Air Force. Maintaining readiness and resilience is more critical than ever. My priority is ensuring that we remain adaptable and operationally focused as we face the challenges ahead. As I see it, our ability to stay mission-ready isn’t just about meeting objectives - it’s about maintaining our edge on a global stage. When I’m not in uniform, you’ll likely find me spending time outdoors, bow hunting whitetail deer, or deepening my faith through theological study. My faith plays a significant role in my life, and it’s a constant source of strength and guidance. I’m excited to be part of the AFLCMC team and look forward to meeting and working with the incredible Airmen here. Whether through mentoring, problem-solving, or simply sharing experiences, I’m ready to contribute to our shared success and growth. Thanks for the warm welcome! I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together.
