HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Two 66th Air Base Group Airmen have been selected as 2023 Massachusetts Air and Space Forces Association “Top 5 Airmen.”

Tech. Sgt. Nicholas A. Smith, 66th Security Forces Squadron NCO in charge of Logistics and Readiness Section, and Tech. Sgt. Emily McCarthy, 66 ABG training manager, will receive awards during a ceremony Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown, Mass.

“Their commitment to service and exceptional skills embody the core values we value at Hanscom Air Force Base, reflecting the very best of our Team Hanscom community,” said Chief Master Sgt. Alan Weary, installation command chief.

This is the seventh year Massachusetts AFA has recognized the Commonwealth’s top five performers who represent the Air Force mission. The other Airmen selected this year are serving in the Massachusetts Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard.

“The ceremony is an opportunity for the Massachusetts military community to come together and show our appreciation for the dedication and hard work these Airmen have consistently demonstrated,” said Joe Bisognano, Mass. AFA president and event organizer.

The guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. Joseph F. Morrissey, Jr., Massachusetts Air National Guard commander.

Other Airmen selected are: Master Sgt. Michael Anderson, Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass.; Master Sgt. Elizabeth Ross, Otis Air National Guard Base, Mass.; and Staff Sgt. Dayana Jiminez Serrano, Westover ARB.
