HILL AFB, Utah -- Twenty Hill Air Force Base interns and new employees recently participated in an interactive “Foundational Botcamp,” an educational course designed primarily to help demonstrate and emphasize the importance of teamwork.
“The course was designed to be an active, engaging, learning experience to help interns and new employees understand and experience the important roles of members in interdisciplinary teams,” said Mandy Medina-Harris, chief of sustainment management in the F-22 System Program Office.
Participants, who came from Palace Acquire and the Premier College Intern Program, learned about general logistics processes, program management, industrial production, acquisition and sustainment processes and principles, and cybersecurity and RMF testing, among other things. They performed tasks related to logistics and program management, engineering, supply and equipment support and item management.
“The course had an educational component and a competitive element where participants, working in interdisciplinary teams with specific roles, learned to build solar robots that could traverse three different types of terrain: solid surface, sand and water,” Medina-Harris said. “Teams then competed against each other in terrain challenges, selecting robot configurations that could traverse the terrain types in the most efficient manner and fastest time.”
The inaugural event was facilitated by Medina-Harris and Alissa Fronberg from the F-22 SPO, along with Joey Wilkinson from the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Logistics Career Field Management Office. The Botcamp was such a success, organizers plan to repeat it annually.
