HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Airmen and Guardians assigned here now have a new point of contact for matters of enlisted career counseling.

Master Sgt. Sarah Jones has taken on the role of installation development advisor and is poised to assist Department of the Air Force members at Hanscom AFB with professional development, planning and opportunities.

“I really appreciate how this role serves purely as a resource to our people by helping them achieve what they want from their careers,” said Jones.

Jones arrived at Hansom AFB in January 2020 as a cyber transport systems specialist at the Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks Directorate Special Programs Division.

When the position opened for the installation development advisor, formerly called the career assistance advisor, she knew she it was the right move for her.

“I enjoy the candid conversations with people about their goals,” said Jones. “My only agenda is to research options with them so they can become their greatest professional self.”

Jones is available for enlisted members to discuss the most effective development tracks for their goals, as well explore possible career moves like retraining, or applying for commissioning programs.

While Jones’s primary scope is enlisted development, she can be a touch point for officers and civilian employees looking to connect with similar professional resources.

Jones also maintains Hanscom University; a program here that offers personal and professional development opportunities for civilians, enlisted and officers at Hanscom AFB, as well as geographically separated units and dependents.

Personnel can view a full catalogue of courses on the secure Hanscom University SharePoint site.

Looking to the future, Jones said she wants to continue modernizing the tools and resources available to the workforce to make professional development more accessible to all.

“There’s no limit to what we can do in our careers,” said Jones. “My door is always open.”
