HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Six Hanscom-based junior enlisted members graduated from Airman Leadership School during a small ceremony here April 3.
The five-week professional military education course prepared Airmen to become first-line supervisors.
"Even as the installation responded to the COVID-19 situation, the Hanscom students pressed-on and learned new supervisory skills,” said Staff Sgt. Justin Hodge, Hanscom ALS instructor.
Students attending the course and not assigned to Hanscom returned to their duty stations as the COVID-19 situation worsened locally.
Despite these unique challenges, the instructors continued to teach and develop a new cadre of supervisors.
"Hanscom already provides one of, if not the most, personalized ALS experience in the Air Force,” said Master Sgt. Ryan Dillingham, ALS assistant to the commandant. “The instructors have remained optimistic and have set the example for the students to follow and have allowed the course to continue the best it can.”
School officials waived the academic achievement, commandant, and John L. Levitow awards based on the limited number of students enrolled.
Chief Master Sgt. Michael Daly, interim installation command chief, participated in the ceremony via teleconference.
Each graduate received the U.S. Air Force NCO PME graduation ribbon.
The following senior airmen completed the course.
Senior Airman Derrick Bone, 66th Security Forces Squadron
Senior Airman Lucas Bracken, 66th Medical Squadron
Senior Airman Carlos Howard, 66th Security Forces Squadron
Senior Airman Nguyen Nguyen, 66th Medical Squadron
Senior Airman Julian Robinson, Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, and Networks
Senior Airman Antonio Taylor, 66th Air Base Group
