Mission
Deliver training aircraft capability to produce next generation pilots and combat systems officers for Air Force. Major Trainer Missions: Undergraduate pilot training, Graduate combat systems officer training, airmanship familiarization training and operational flight test
Current Lines of Effort
Development
- Currently in EMD; design, integrate, test & deliver 5 aircraft & 6 training devices
- Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach being used to reduce development times, lower production costs, and provide greater collaboration across development team and stakeholders
Production
- First LRIP aircraft and associated simulators scheduled to arrive at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph Sep 23
- Total quantity of 351 T-7A aircraft, along with 46 simulators, and associated ground equipment, to replace the Air Education and Training Command’s fleet of T-38Cs
IOC
- IOC planned for 2024 with Full Operational Capability in 2034
