WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Delivering weapon systems to U.S. partner nations faster is a priority for Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Geraghty.

Currently serving as Director of the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate (AFSAC), as well as Director of International Affairs for the Air Force Materiel Command, Geraghty and his team are responsible for executing a foreign military sales portfolio valued at more than $345 billion and involving 95 countries and nine NATO agencies.

Recently, Geraghty visited U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific region – his first overseas trip as director – where he met with senior defense ministry officials to learn about some of their challenges and areas AFSAC could provide support.

“The Indo-Pacific region plays a key role in the U.S. National Defense Strategy,” said Geraghty. “So visiting our allies in the region, seeing issues up close, and getting a better understanding of just how important it is to our partners to be able to maintain the weapon systems acquired from us, and their interest in continuing to procure weapon systems from us, was the reason we made the trip.”

Some of the feedback he received during the trip was for more aircraft, with more capability, delivered faster – as well as assistance with the resupply of parts.

“Identifying the most pressing issues that we need to solve for our partner nations and taking those same issues back to our industry and PEO [Program Executive Officer] partners in the United States was an important part of the trip,” added Geraghty. “Overall, the trip sent the message to our foreign partners that their concerns matter to the United States, and to the Department of Defense.”

In order to continue solving challenges and improving support to foreign military partners, Geraghty expressed commitment to AFSAC’s priorities, which include building and sustaining enduring relationships, executing timely and transparent operations, and ensuring resources are aligned to the mission.

Following those priorities, the AFSAC team has had a lot of success. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 alone, AFSAC executed $55 billion in foreign military sales—the largest sales year in the organization’s 47-year history—and nearly $34 billion the first four months of FY 2025.

Sales in the Indo-Pacific region remain strong in FY 2025 with over $11 billion on various efforts including a major F-15K upgrade in the Republic of Korea, MQ-9B acquisition in India, and F-35 procurements in Japan and Singapore.

“We’re on track for another recording setting year, and that’s a testament to how invested our partner nations are in their national security through American weapon systems,” said Geraghty. “The United States has the most advanced, the most robust weapon systems in the world and for partners to have access to that capability, they are able to interoperate with us in coalition operations around the world. In addition, a key part of our success comes with our outstanding people. They work around the clock supporting our partners, providing expertise, and building trust.  They do an amazing job.”
