Program executive officers will discuss business and partnership opportunities with industry and academia during this year’s New Horizon’s event, March 10-12 at the Marriot Hotel in Newton, Massachusetts.

The theme for this year’s event is “Pioneering the Next Generation of Leadership and Excellence for Information and Air Dominance.”

"New Horizons has long been a cornerstone event that fosters collaboration, innovation and partnership between the Department of Defense, industry and academia," said Mike McGinley, Lexington-Concord chapter of AFCEA president. "This year’s symposium will offer invaluable insights and opportunities as we work together to achieve excellence in information and air dominance in an era of strategic competition.”

New Horizons is New England’s leading defense sector event for partnerships and support to the nation’s defense industrial base. This focus aligns with the Department of Defense’s message that the United States must remain the strongest and most lethal force in the world.

Registration details can be found at the AFCEA registration page.

This year’s theme focuses on how research, development, production, sustainment and partnerships can best support information and air dominance.

"We are proud that New Horizons provides attendees with in-person access to leaders, key information and business opportunities, and a forum for the professional growth essential for our next generation of leaders," McGinley continued.

Maj. Gen. Anthony Genatempo, PEO for the Cyber & Networks Directorate; Jeremy Thiele, deputy PEO for Cyber and Networks; Scott Hardiman, PEO, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center's Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Integration Directorate; Lea Kirkwood, PEO, Electronic Systems Directorate; and Gordon Kordyak, deputy PEO, Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management Directorate are scheduled to present program overviews or updates.

“I am excited to participate in the New Horizons forum and introduce our new portfolio and mission focus that highlight opportunities for collaboration with industry partners and for critical innovation and integration to shape the future of electromagnetic spectrum capabilities,” said Kirkwood.

Alexis Bonnell, chief information officer and director of the Digital Capabilities Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory, and Steven Wert, deputy assistant secretary for acquisition integration in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, will also be in attendance.

New Horizons panels and speakers plan to highlight missions and business opportunities to ensure the U.S. Air Force remains ahead of global competitors. The agenda also includes networking opportunities, an innovation showcase and panel discussions.

Prior to the New Horizons event, on March 10, a small business panel is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. EST in the hotel’s Charles River Conference Room. It is a no cost, in-person event.

Panelists include senior leaders from Cyber and Networks, C3BM, Electronic Systems, NC3, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Strategic Services Division, AFLCMC Contracting at Hanscom AFB, and the U.S. Small Business Administration Area 1.

Registration for the small business panel closes Feb. 24. Attendees should submit questions for the panelists when they register.

New Horizons is free for all active-duty military and government employees, but registration is required.
