DAYTON, Ohio (AFLCMC) Brig. Gen. Luke Cropsey, Department of the Air Force Integrating Program Executive Officer (PEO) for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management (C3BM) delivered a rousing presentation during Life Cycle Industry Days (LCID) on July 30, 2024 at the Dayton, Ohio Convention Center.

The Department of the Air Force announced the creation of C3BM in the fall of 2022. Cropsey is the first PEO to hold the role.

C3BM’s mission is to deliver an integrated DAF BATTLE NETWORK, the systems-of-systems that provides resilient decision advantage. The network enables the Air Force, Space Force, joint and coalition forces to win against the pacing challenge.

Creating this integrated network is complex and requires bold creativity. This means doing things differently, said Cropsey, and he guides his team with these values:

  • Extreme Teaming with enterprise stakeholders
  • Ruthless Focus on operational outcomes
  • Violent Execution of DAF PEO C3BM priorities
“We have to align around the outcome - the operational outcome - that we have to achieve,” Cropsey told the LCID audience. “And what that looks like, and how we get after it, is the piece that gets really interesting.”

Having everyone on the same page to focus on evolving warfighter needs first means accepting the fact that there is no perfect plan.

“… we don't have time to wait for perfection to show up,” Cropsey continued. “Which means that we have to have very clear left-and-right limits on the things that we're deciding to get after.”

Cropsey’s other advice? Let stuff go. Know what matters. Embrace chaos. Learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Life Cycle Industry Days are presented annually by the Life Cycle Management Center. The event brings together Air Force acquisition leaders and industry partners.
