HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Integrated Prevention and Resilience Office here will host two in-person professional development sessions to benefit members of the workforce April 18 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Mike Domitrz, an author and founder of The Center for Respect, will discuss building positive chemistry, establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries in the workplace, and the importance of disconnecting.
Domitrz will offer two separate sessions at the Hanscom Conference Center Concord Room: the first for all Hanscom civilians, enlisted and officers from 1 to 2 p.m., and the second targeted to supervisors and leaders from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
According to Sydney Herminghaus, Hanscom’s resiliency program manager, the main difference between the two will be the perspective.
“We all have unique backgrounds and opinions that we bring to the office, but we can’t forget that those closest to us may have different interpretations and expectations,” she said.
Herminghaus said that regardless of the flexibility in work schedules, there is still a unique challenge in staying connected and adapting to new operation tempos.
“Even though some of us are spending more time physically at the same job with the same coworkers, it feels new again,” she said. “This event will focus on reestablishing boundaries as we move between virtual and in-person work.”
Resiliency specialists here believe Hanscom personnel who attend will leave with the needed resources to reset focus under pressure and better manage their stress, and encourage them to participate in at least one of the two sessions.
“Mike is super engaging and interactive, and he offers real, tangible solutions for people,” said Herminghaus. “I’m confident that everyone who attends will get something out of it.”
