HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base personnel are invited to attend local Veterans Day observances honoring military service Nov. 10 and 11.
The base will host a Salute to Veterans ceremony (https://www.hanscom.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/2831299/salute-to-veterans-event-planned-nov-10/) Nov. 10 at 8:30 a.m. at the conference center. This year’s ceremony will feature Col. Katrina Stephens, installation commander, as the guest speaker.
In addition to the Hanscom observance, the following are a sampling of events taking place in the local area.
Bedford Veterans Day Ceremony
Bedford’s annual Veterans Day ceremony will take place Nov. 11 at noon at Veterans Memorial Park on Great Road. Hanscom Command Chief Master Sgt. William Hebb will represent the installation at the event.
The ceremony will include the unveiling of a new Iraq and Afghanistan war memorial, remarks from local officials, a wreath-laying ceremony honoring veterans and music by the Bedford High School Marching Band.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Bedford High School auditorium. However, the rain date for the unveiling of the memorial will be Nov. 14 at 1 p.m.

Lexington Veterans Day Car Parade
Lexington will host a Veterans’ Car Parade Nov. 11 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Lexington Community Center at 39 Marrett Street. The parade will continue along Massachusetts Avenue, past the Battle Green and end at St. Brigid's Church.
According to the town’s website, the parade will feature veterans’ cars, a veterans' motorcycle group, classic cars and a Lexington Minuteman float.
The Lexington High School band will perform on Lexington Green and various groups and organizations will be located along the parade route.

Concord Veterans Day Flag Retirement Ceremony
The town of Concord will host their annual Veterans Day flag retirement ceremony at 8 a.m. at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord. The ceremony will begin with a parade, which will assemble at the Pritchard Gate entrance on Bedford Street at 7:45 a.m.
During the ceremony, the Concord Fire Department will retire worn American flags collected from Concord residents.
