A 33rd Fighter Wing active-duty Airman is being treated and evaluated by health care professionals after testing positive for COVID-19.

The member recently returned from continental U.S. travel and began to experience symptoms. After consulting with Public Health, the member self-quarantined consistent with DoD guidelines.

“The continued safety and well-being of our Airmen is my number one priority," said Col. Jon Wheeler, 33rd FW commander. "We are working with on-base medical staff to make sure we’re properly mitigating the effects of COVID-19 while continuing to get our training mission done.”

The wing ceased flying operations today to conduct pattern-of-life studies, reevaluate cleaning procedures, and ensure anyone that the member came in close contact with is evaluated for symptoms and restriction of movement. Reduced flying operations with resume March 23.

“As we implement thorough cleaning and social distancing measures, we continue to leverage our Airmen and their innovative ideas to help flatten the curve,” said Wheeler.
