AFSC Teammates--

As you are well aware, our nation continues its response posture to the COVID-19 pandemic.  As commander, I understand the burden our workforce is facing both at work and home due to school closures and other community impacts.  Within the larger Air Force strategy, AFSC leadership is taking several actions across our Center to prioritize the health and well-being of our workforce while balancing mission requirements.

These actions include:

  • Direction to execute telework to the maximum extent possible for eligible positions.
  • Authority for administrative leave for personnel in specific high risk health categories (as defined by the Center for Disease Control) who are not otherwise eligible for telework.
  • Additionally, I have asked wing and depot leadership to carefully consider steps to improve social distancing within work centers, where practical. These steps include unconventional measures such as alternate shifts for our industrial workforce who do not qualify for telework.

These are temporary measures of an unknown duration as we collectively battle this unseen adversary.  We will balance taking care of our people with meeting the warfighter’s needs.

Even during this challenging period, the Air Force remains postured to Fly, Fight and Win.  The readiness our Center generates is critical to our Service’s mission and defending our nation.

Thank you for all you do for AFSC and our Air Force.

Lt Gen Kirkland
