AFLCMC encompasses multiple generations. The generation an individual associates with may impact how they approach work, acquire knowledge, and climb the career ladder. A short explainer of the different generations:

  • A Gen Zer is defined as an individual born between 1997 to 2015. They are well-educated, and most do not remember the events that happened on September 11, 2001.
  • A Millennial is defined as an individual born between 1981 and 1996. They grew up using computers and the Internet.
  • A Gen Xer is defined as an individual born between 1965 and 1980. They are sometimes referred to as the “latchkey generation.”
  • A Baby Boomer is defined as an individual born between 1946 and 1964. This group makes up a large portion of the world’s population.
  • A Silent Generation/Traditionalist is defined as an individual born before 1946. They like security and stability.
Our video series helps push back against stereotyping. Oversimplified ideas, such as Baby Boomers not embracing technology and millennials not being career-oriented, can be misinformed.

In addition to meeting fellow Airmen on the MQ-9, B-52 and F-22 teams, you will hear from AFLCMC Commander Lt. Gen. Shaun Q. Morris, Command Chief Master Sergeant Jamie Newman and Executive Director Kathy Watern. Your narrator is Melanie Marshall, Division Chief for the Acquisition Center of Excellence. Captain Alexis Todaro, Program Manager for Advanced Aircraft, will introduce us to each team and provide commentary on our major themes: communication, motivation, and mentoring.
